It is a common skin disease that causes redness and swelling on the face. Often referred to as “adult acne,” rosacea may begin as a tendency to flush or blush easily, and progress to persistent redness in the center of the face that may gradually involve the cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose.
Causes of Rosacea are:
- Flushing and blushing
At out clinic we use different types of treatment procedure that is best suited for you.
- Fractional resurfacing lasers have proven valuable in treating the worse cases of rosacea. The CO2 laser works almost like a scalpel to dissect or vaporize the unwanted tissue caused by rosacea. Lower level laser light therapies have also proven useful.
- We also use Intense Pulse Light (IPL) technique which uses high intensity light to penetrate just below the skins surface. Pulses of light are fired at the skin which turns into heat to destroy the darker skin cells. The skin will then scab or peel, and gradually fade leaving you with a more even skin tone. This procedure is non-invasive procedure with very less pain involved and patients can see faster results.
- Microdermabrasion is a treatment in which a hand-held device is used to blows crystals onto the skin. These crystals gently “polish” the skin’s surface. Then, a vacuum tube removes the crystals and skin cells. As just the surface cells are removed, the skin isn’t damaged. This treatment requires a few session of treatment.
- Chemical peels are also used to give the skin an even tone.
