Acne is a skin condition that affects mostly people in their teens and twenties. Acne is a skin condition in which the oil that normally lubricates the skin gets trapped in blocked oil ducts and results in what we know as pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads on the surface of skin.
Fractional laser is a powerful tool in dealing with acne scar. Pulses of laser light coagulate the scar tissue and trigger healthy new tissue to form in the skin. The use of laser makes the procedure less time consuming and pain free.
At our clinic we use different methods to treat different kinds of scars.
- We use fractional laser in the treatment of acne scars. Pulses of laser light coagulate the scar tissue and trigger healthy new tissue to form in the skin. Laser is a non-invasive procedure which involves very less pain and takes less amount of time.
- Dermabrasion involves the removal of the surface of the skin with special equipment. This procedure is useful when the scar is raised above the surrounding skin; but, it is less useful for the treatment of sunken scars.
- Microdermabrasion is a treatment in which a hand-held device is used to blows crystals onto the skin. These crystals gently “polish” the skin’s surface. Then, a vacuum tube removes the crystals and skin cells. As just the surface cells are removed, the skin isn’t damaged. This treatment requires a few session of treatment.
- Filler injections are used to raise sunken scars to the level of surrounding skin. The effects of these injections are only temporary so the procedures may need to be regularly repeated.
